Renae

By no means have I travelled the road that some have, but I've been through enough that I've needed good psychological and spiritual help and support. I have valued a safe refuge to fall apart in, and be ok to not be ok, to be free, unguarded and unfiltered with the things that confuse, hurt and overwhelm me. I started studying counselling as a place to learn and grow in my own journey and support others who may be struggling with the internal wrestle of their thoughts, emotions and beliefs like I do. I’ve worked with individuals facing clinical depression and anxiety, as well as those navigating various forms of grief and loss—whether from relationships, bereavement, career changes, family or friendships. With my background in Exercise Physiology, I also offer counselling on physical health and well-being. With a personal Christian faith I specialise in working with individuals looking to explore the connection between mental and spiritual health. My style is still growing and evolving, so working with me you’ll find an honest and real space. I aim to keep learning and adapting my skills as I work with each unique individual I love indoor plants, I'm always keen for another tattoo, and love reading a good book with a coffee!

Why the Spoony community matters to me

We all have a past, people and circumstances that have influenced and shaped us and sometimes it's difficult to feel safe to explore what makes us who we are. In my own journey I've appreciated a safe space where I could drop my façade and let go of all the internal stuff I'd been carrying around, the mental, emotional, relational and spiritual things that were getting me down. This counselling space is about helping you to get some perspective on your beliefs, thoughts, feelings and behaviours, to make some sense of them, and help you understand yourself and others a bit better. My aim is to help you re-focus on what you believe, know who you are, recognise your place in the world and gain a bit more courage, grit and scrappiness to live it out.
