Thea Keane
Over the past 29 years I have worked with individuals and families from all walks of life, supporting them with anxiety, depression, stress, and a variety of other concerns. I have worked with couples and families for a similar length of time, and am passionate about supporting individuals in the various relationships in their life in whatever capacity they need. I was born with cerebral palsy, and has first-hand experience of what it is like to navigate a predominately able-bodied world with a disability. It has been a journey of highs and lows. This personal experience heightens my ability to work with those experiencing disability.

Why the Spoony community matters to me
As someone with cerebral palsy and a proud parent of adult neurodivergent children and grandparent to neurodivergent grandchildren, I understand the unique challenges and strengths that come with navigating a world that isn’t always built for everyone. My journey with disability isn’t just something I bring into the counselling space — it’s the lens through which I’ve learned empathy, resilience, and the power of truly being heard. Living with cerebral palsy, and raising neurodivergent children and grandchildren, has given me a deep, first-hand understanding of what it means to navigate a world that often doesn't make space for difference. This lived experience has profoundly shaped the way I practice. I don’t just work for my clients — I walk with them. I understand the frustration, the invisible load, the advocacy fatigue, and the longing for genuine connection. My counselling approach is grounded in real-world insight, not just theory, which means I meet clients exactly where they are — without judgment, without assumptions.
