Rachel Agnew

Hi, I’m Rachel (she/her), a neurodivergent-affirming and trauma-informed counsellor who offers online support for adults and young adults (16+) across Australia. My work is grounded in the belief that you are the expert of your own experience. I provide warm, person-centred counselling for people navigating life transitions, identity, grief, anxiety, depression, or the long-term effects of trauma. As an intercountry adoptee and immigrant, I bring a deep personal understanding of identity, belonging, and cultural complexity. I’m committed to culturally competent, anti-oppressive care that honours the unique ways people move through the world especially those who’ve felt othered, misunderstood, or excluded in traditional mental health spaces. You won’t need to mask, explain your access needs, or educate me on neurodivergence, ableism, or chronic fatigue. Whether you’re feeling burnt out, processing something big, or just need a space where you can be fully yourself I’m here for that. I’ve worked in mental health and community support roles since 2017, and began my private practice after completing my BA (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I’m fully registered with the Australian Counselling Association and offer flexible, online sessions via secure video calls.

Why the Spoony community matters to me

As someone with lived experience of chronic illness, I understand the emotional, physical, and systemic challenges that come with navigating long-term health conditions. Platforms like Spoony are vital because they recognise the importance of accessible, inclusive, and affirming mental health care for disabled and neurodivergent communities. Having a space like Spoony, where access needs are respected, and disability isn’t treated as something to "fix", feels incredibly meaningful.
