Dr. Emma Mak
I am a Registered Counsellor, Registered Music Therapist, and Special Education Teacher with a Master of Counselling, Master of Music Therapy, Doctor of Worship Studies, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Special Education. I am deeply passionate about supporting individuals on their journey toward healing, growth, and self-discovery. In addition to over 24 years of experience working with neurodivergent individuals and supporting their families and carers, I also have lived experience—having many traits consistent with ADHD myself and being closely connected to family members with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This personal insight strengthens my empathy and informs my practice in meaningful ways. I firmly believe that every person is uniquely made and irreplaceable—no one else can take your place in this world. Whether you are facing stress, illness, relational struggles, depression, anxiety, mental health challenges, or difficulties adapting to life’s changes, I am here to walk alongside you. These challenges do not define you. Together, we will work to remove these barriers so that you can embrace life fully and live as your most authentic and fulfilled self. I have extensive experience in: - Therapy and coaching for Neurodivergence and Special Educational Needs, including working with children, adults, and parents (24 years) - Mental Health & Wellbeing across Children & Adolescents, Adults, and Older Adults (17 years) - Personal Development and Life Adaptations (17 years) - Christian Counselling (Available upon request) I am also passionate about supporting individuals who have experienced domestic violence and those who are committed to overcoming addictions. If you feel that we may be the right fit, begin your journey with me by booking a session. I look forward to meeting you soon.

Why the Spoony community matters to me
The obstacles we face do not define who we are; it is crucial to understand that each of us is a wonderfully created human being, deserving of love and respect. The Spoony community holds a special place in my heart because I am part of it. As someone who has lived with ADHD, I understand firsthand the challenges neurodivergence and disabilities bring. Through my journey, I have developed a range of strategies that have helped me navigate life and thrive. With a combination of academic expertise and practical, frontline experience, I am deeply committed to supporting and empowering others within the Spoony community. I believe my unique perspective and skills can contribute meaningfully to this community, offering understanding, compassion, and valuable insights that help others embrace their own journey with confidence and resilience.
